Existing transportation exchanges specialize in maritime and air shipping. They mostly focus on the North American markets and are relatively few. Large-scale transport enterprises use their websites and IT frameworks only for promotion of their own services, including multimodal shipping and drafting supply chains.
Thus, lack of coordination within the global transportation system does not let shippers organize the whole cargo transportation cycle on their own and forces them to use services of middlemen.
